Rock of Ages
Rock of Ages, cleft for me Let me hide myself in thee; Let the water and the blood, From thy riven side which flowed, Be of sin the double cure, Cleanse me from its guilt and pow'r. Not the labors of my hands Can fulfill thy law's demands; Could my zeal no respite know, Could my tears for ever flow, All for sin could not atone; Thou must save, and thou alone. Nothing in my hand I bring, Simply to thy cross I cling; Naked, come to thee for dress, Helpless, look to thee for grace; Foul, I to the Fountain fly; Wash me, Savior, or I die. While I draw this fleeting breath, When mine eyelids close in death, When I soar to worlds unknown, See thee on thy judgment throne, Rock of Ages, cleft for me, Let me hide myself in thee. [Forgive me Father now I see all my effort was but for me Legalism cast aside, perfectionism and my pride, cleanse me from it all I plea that I wholly rest in thee. Teach me new, now I desire lead me to a place much higher, and while on this earthly shore together walk to heavens door. Rock of Ages, cleft for me, Let me hide myself in thee.] May 13, 2020, 9:00a. Wait Upon the Lord
•Those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength . . .
•And I will wait on the LORD. . . and I will hope in Him . . . •And it will be said in that day: "Behold, this is our God. . .we have waited for Him, and He will save us. •This is the LORD; we have waited for Him; we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation." (Isa_40:31; Isa_8:17; and Isa_25:9) Dear Lord, I am aware of my utter weakness, so I wait on You for Your strength and stamina. At times, I am [challenged] by rebellious people, so I wait on You for protection and vindication. I have experienced so many earthly heartbreaks, so I wait on You for the joy and gladness of Your everlasting kingdom.
Ref. —Sept.16, Prayer, © DBDBG The Normal Christian Life
"God is not out to reform our life. It is not His aim to bring that life to a certain stage of refinement, for it is on a totally wrong plane. On that plane He cannot now bring man to glory. He must have a new man; one born anew, born of God. Regeneration and justification go together."
